Row over upside down 'blue badge'
Ronald Price, 88
Mr Price was extremely distressed by the incident
A disabled Nottingham pensioner has been given a 30 parking fine for showing his blue badge upside down outside a hospital.

Ronald Price, 88, suffered a stroke two years ago and needs the help of a stick and the support of another person.

His family has called the decision disgusting and asked for clarification from the council.

Nottingham City Council say the fine was imposed because the expiry date was not visible.

Mr Price said: "We thought we were doing right.

"I've been doing this for five years and this is the first time there has been any upset.

"I feel disgusted."

John Baldock, Mr Price's son in law said: "It's causing a lot of hassle for disabled people.

"A lot of disabled people aren't just disabled as in they can't walk properly, but, they may have all sorts of problems they can't cope with or that are affecting their life.

"It is just hassle they can do without.

"A lot of people can't be bothered to write in and say this is the situation and they will cut their losses and pay the fine and be done with it."

Nottingham City Council is examining the appeal which should take about four weeks.
