Overweight children in Nottingham are being offered the chance to take part in free sessions aimed at increasing their physical activity. The first course, which starts on Saturday, will offer 5 to 13 year olds the chance to take part in activities like football and trampolining.
Successful slimmers can win prizes such as free cinema tickets.
The Nottingham City Primary Care Trust hopes the youngsters will be able to help them in the future.

The scheme will be run at the four Leisure centres in Nottingham, beginning on Saturday at Clifton and Harvey Hadden and starting at Southglade and Victoria in the spring. Around 40 children will be given advice on diet and be set activities with, say the organisers, "an emphasis on fun".
Doctor Dilip Nathan, from the trust, believes several factors have contributed to obesity among children.
He said: "We think children are exercising less, far fewer walk to school than even 10 years ago and the popularity of computers and video games adds to this.
"The other factor is children's diets are changing, with much higher fat and sugar contents."
