Bus dispute talks start
A Trent bus
Trent Buses run in various routes in the East Midlands
Managers at an East Midlands bus company say talks have started to avoid further strikes in the region.

Three one-day strikes at Trent Buses in the run-up to Christmas disrupted services in parts of Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire.

A company spokesman said "constructive" talks were held with union representatives on Christmas Eve.

More talks are planned for the new year.

Dozens of Saturday services across the county were cancelled during the one-day strikes.

Shops in Derby's Eagle Centre claimed their business decreased by 21% in the busy run-up to Christmas because of the bus drivers' dispute.

The union is calling for higher pay rates for drivers, who received a 4.2% rise earlier this year.
