Nottingham is to get back its twice-hourly rail service to London - once improvements are completed to the West Coast Mainline. Midland Mainline was forced to divert its Turbostar services to serve Manchester earlier this year, as engineering works were taking place elsewhere.
But the company's Commercial Director Malcolm Brown, has confirmed commuters from Nottingham will get their second train back.
He said: "We scaled down the service to Nottingham under the instruction of the Strategic Rail Authority.
"We managed to keep some additional peak services in to try and help the commuter market down to London.
"However, this was a temporary measure for when the West Coast main line was being upgraded.
"We will restore the half-hourly service from next year."
