A special youth assembly is to be set-up in the Ashfield area. The group of young people will be asked by the district council to offer their views on various issues.
There are plans to set-up youth assemblies throughout Nottinghamshire.
Delegates from each group will be appointed to a countywide organisation.
In Ashfield, district councillors have given their approval for the idea of having an assembly.
It will be made-up of young people who will be consulted on a variety of issues, both affecting young people directly as well as broader topics.
It is hoped a consultation event will be held in September at which potential members will be recruited.
