Mr Lovatt was winched to safety by helicopter |
A Nottingham pilot whose plane crashed in a remote area of north Wales is recovering in hospital. Steve Lovatt, 51, suffered facial injuries in the crash a week ago.
His Piper Tomahawk light aircraft crashed on a mountain in Snowdonia last Thursday, not long after taking off from Nottingham Airport in Tollerton, Nottinghamshire.
He was rescued by a mountain rescue team along with paramedics and taken to hospital in Bangor where he was treated for injuries to his face and a crushed vertebrae.
A spokesman for Nottingham Airport told the BBC his condition is no longer critical and once he is stabilised he will be moved to another hospital for surgery.
The aircraft has now been recovered from the crash site and has been taken to Farnborough, Hampshire, for testing.
The Air Accident Investigations Branch is looking into the cause of the crash.
