Police criticised over racist attacks
A Kurdish asylum seeker living in Nottingham says the police are not doing enough to protect his home and family.

Vatan Dennis claims he has been the victim of a string of racist attacks.

On Sunday night, a missile was hurled at the front room window, shattering glass and narrowly missing his 15-month-old daughter.

He has reported this and other incidents to Nottinghamshire police but says they are doing little to help him.

If the police don't take legal measures, these racists will continue to attack us

Mr Dennis fled political persecution in Turkey three years ago and now lives in his Meadows home with his wife and 15-month-old daughter.

He says he enjoys living in Nottingham and wants to stay in the area.

But he is frightened the weekend attack could have badly injured his daughter.

It is the second attack on his home in two weeks and two months ago he was attacked in the street.

He said: "The police don't do anything. If the police don't take legal measures, these racists will continue to attack us.

"I don't want to be given money or have a big house, I just want to raise my family and work for a living in Nottingham."

Nottinghamshire Police say they are investigating the incident and their racist incident team is on hand to give help and advice to victims of racial attacks.
