Premier League footballer Calum Davenport has appeared in court to deny assaulting his sister.

The West Ham United player, of Bedfordshire, is charged with causing actual bodily harm to Cara Davenport, 28, in Bedford on 22 August.

The 27-year-old centre back was granted bail when he appeared at Luton Crown Court with the condition that he does not contact his sister.

A provisional date for the two-day trial was set for 2 August.
