Separate water supplier for homes

Residents of a new housing development in Northamptonshire will receive cut price water from an independent company rather than the county's main supplier.

Ofwat has granted Independent Water Networks Limited (IWNL) its third "inset appointment" to supply 162 homes at Great Billing Way in Northampton.

Inset appointments allow a firm to replace the statutory supplier.

IWNL will buy treated water from the major supplier Anglian Water which will continue to provide sewerage services.

Customers will benefit from discounted water tariffs, as IWNL will charge 5% less per cubic metre of water supplied than Anglian Water would otherwise charge.

IWNL will be subject to the same customer service requirements as other water and sewerage companies.

IIWNL already has two inset appointments for a housing developments in Corby.
