Protest over delayed stadium plan
Northampton Town FC protest
Fans protest over delays to redevelopment at Sixfields
Football fans have staged a protest over delays to the redevelopment of the Sixfields stadium in Northampton.

Supporters at Tuesday night's televised game against Bristol City held up cards bearing question marks during the match to ask why the scheme has been held up.

Fans claim the council is dragging its feet and fear for the club's future.

Northampton Borough Council said in a statement it had not received a planning application from the club and urged Northampton FC to prepare one.

It said in a further statement on Wednesday that the West Northamptonshire Development Corporation would be the planning authority that makes a decision.

But the Cobblers Supporters Trust, which organised the protest, said it still believed the council was dragging its feet.

A spokesman said: "We need the redevelopment of the club to benefit the town because a successful league football club brings money into a community."
