A mother from Northamptonshire plans to prepare to run the London Marathon on national TV. Linda Ball, from Daventry, will take part in the BBC series, Race for Glory, which starts on Wednesday evening.
The 37-year-old was inspired to take part in the show by her five-year-old son Daniel who has the muscle wasting disease, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Ms Ball is one of 13 runners to take part in the show and hopes to raise 5,000 for Muscular Dystrophy.
Ms Ball said: "Unfortunately Daniel is already starting to slow down and that manifests itself in the way he gets up the stairs, the way he walks and how tired he gets.
"That will progress and sometime between the age of eight and 12 he'll go into a wheelchair full-time. His current life expectancy is about 20."
During the eight-week series, the first-time runners will be trained by Steve Cram and Sally Gunnell.
