Students offered mumps vaccines
College students at risk of contracting mumps will have to take vaccinations, health officials have said.

The University College Northampton (UCN) has decided to order a mass vaccination programme on the advice of the Health Protection Agency.

It follows three confirmed cases and several suspected cases of the infection across its Park and Avenue campuses last week.

The vaccine will be available to all staff and students from 8 March.

Mumps is largely spread through saliva.
