A man and a woman have been arrested after an assault which left a 45-year-old man in a critical condition. Initial reports suggested the attack took place on Saturday in Burleigh Road, Northampton, but police later said it had happened on Friday night.
The victim has been transferred to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford from Northampton General with severe head injuries, a police spokesman said.
A 29-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man are being questioned by police.
The pair are both from Northampton.
