Training to halt motorbike deaths
Motorbike riders on the road
Police are urging bikers to learn more about safety and speed
Police in Northamptonshire are providing training for motorcyclists after a sharp rise in the number of fatal crashes.

Operation Biker will also see more patrols to catch people speeding.

Motorcycles have been clocked at 139mph on the A509 at Wollaston, a public highway with heavy traffic and no safety fencing.

Pc Gary Haynes said: "I'd advise motorbike riders to think very strongly about their own limitations."

Northamptonshire saw a strong increase in the number of road deaths last year.

Nine bikers died on the county's roads between January and June - compared to seven in the whole of 2002.
