Trouble spot camera to beat crime
CCTV screens
The temporary camera will monitor the Northampton trouble spot
A new temporary security camera is being used to combat crime and anti-social behaviour in a Northampton trouble spot.

Problem behaviour has been growing in the Butts Road area of the town.

On average there have been four incidents in the area every week since the summer.

Butts Road is not covered by the Northampton's permanent CCTV system, frustrating police efforts to control the problem.

Joint initiative

A revolutionary new temporary camera has been put up, in time for Christmas, to feed images of disorder and track the trouble-makers.

The cameras have been paid for jointly by police and Northampton Borough Council.

They said the first installation of this type in Limehurst Square had transformed the area.

They are hoping the camera in Butts Road will have the same effect.
