Two villages are on the verge of losing their skateboard ramps as reports of crime are on the increase. Both ramps were set up in the villages just south of Northampton as part of a youth initiative.
But police say they have recorded increases in criminal damage, including an arson attempt, at Milton Malsor and Roade since the arrival of the ramps.
Now officers from Northamptonshire Police have said the facilities may be withdrawn if the anti-social behaviour does not stop.
Pc Justin Brown, said since there have been reports of criminal damage, offensive graffiti and even an attempt to burn one ramp.
Puzzled and disappointed
"The skateboard ramps were installed as result of consultations with local young people last year," he said.
"The ramps were intended to provide a modern and useful facility to occupy young people, together with the installation of meeting points nearby.
"I am puzzled and disappointed that certain people are targeting these ramps and committing offences.
"They are spoiling the facilities for others.
"Positive action has been taken against identified offenders but the problems are continuing."
The issue has been raised with the parish councils but Mr Brown also plans to talk with local youngsters.
