At its peak there were 200 people at the rave |
Police had to close part of a motorway in Northamptonshire at the weekend in an attempt to stop people getting to a rave. The rave began at 0100 BST on Sunday morning in fields between the villages of Chipping Warden and West Farndon.
After complaints about the noise and damage to crops, police and environmental health officers went to the scene, switched off the sound and asked people to leave.
At its peak 200 revellers were at the rave, and police blocked Junction 11 of the M40 to prevent more people going.
The revellers were finally ushered off the site at 0430 BST on Sunday.
Effect of raves
Northamptonshire Police stopped a van and seized equipment.
A 35-year-old man is to appear before local magistrates in connection with a number of offences.
Northamptonshire Police said they took the issue of illegal raves very seriously.
Chief Superintendent John Millar said: "The effect of raves that have happened in this area have been very great.
"Local farmers have had to suffer considerable damage to their crops and disruption to their businesses and there has also been vast amounts of litter to be cleared away."
He said that offenders would be "strongly prosecuted where offences are found".
