Premier League footballer Lee Cattermole has been banned from driving for 56 days after being caught speeding at more than 100mph in North Yorkshire.

The Sunderland midfielder, aged 22, was also fined £900 and ordered to pay £425 costs and a £15 victim surcharge by Northallerton magistrates on Wednesday.

Cattermole of Stockton-on-Tees admitted driving at 103mph on the A19 at Thirsk in August. The limit was 70mph.

That was the same month he was signed by Sunderland from Wigan in a £6m deal.
