Trains back on track after storms
York Station
The lightning strike caused delays for thousands of commuters
Train services in York are back on track after thousands of commuters were delayed in the morning rush hour when lightning struck the signalling system.

Network Rail said 12 signalling modules were knocked out, causing severe disruption but no lasting damage.

No one was hurt and replacement coaches were laid on from York to Doncaster, but travellers to most local and mainline services were affected.

A spokesman said normal services were resumed by midday.
