Drax has benefited from the revival of coal as a fuel source |
A woman has been arrested near Drax Power Station in North Yorkshire - the scene of a major environmental protest eight weeks ago... The woman, who was arrested in the early hours of Monday, was equipped to cause criminal damage, police said.
They stressed that she had not entered the Drax site.
Police patrols in the area have been stepped up since some 600 demonstrators attempted to disrupt operations in a "mass day of action" on 31 August.
Thirty-eight campaigners were arrested for a range of offences including criminal damage, aggravated trespass and possession of offensive weapons.
Protesters targeted Drax because it is the biggest coal-fired power station in Europe and a major source of carbon emisisons.
