Fines or prizes for litter louts
Litter louts in York are being offered a new incentive to keep the city clean.

Council workers are taking to the streets to reward people who dispose of their litter correctly and issue on-the-spot fines to those who don't.

Until the end of the summer, anyone seen picking up rubbish or disposing of their own will be given a raffle ticket for a prize draw.

Anyone caught dropping litter faces a fine of 50 which will be used to fund future schemes to keep the city clean.
