A project to encourage sustainable travel and tourism in the Yorkshire Dales has been recognised by the European Union (EU). The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority (YDNPA) won an award for "promoting ecologically-sound travel and tourism".
The contest was run by the Austrian government, the president of the EU.
The Yorkshire Dales National Park is one of 12 National Parks throughout England and Wales.
Other groups involved in the project were Leeds City Council, Bradford Metropolitan District Council, North Yorkshire Council and the Yorkshire Dales Public Transport User Group.
Andy Ryland, from YDNPA, said: "The award highlights the need for integrating transport, tourism and sustainability, which was exactly what the partners of the Target project were trying to do. "
