Police officer hurt in 999 crash
A policeman is recovering in hospital after his patrol car collided with a lorry as he responded to a 999 call.

The 33-year-old officer suffered head and neck injuries in the crash at Rufforth on the B1224 York to Wetherby road on Tuesday afternoon.

He was treated at York District Hospital for injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening, a North Yorkshire Police spokesman said.

Nobody else was injured in the incident which police are investigating.
