Couple celebrate 'blizzard baby'

Baby Dylan did not want to wait until his mother got to hospital
A couple are celebrating the birth of a baby boy who was born in the back seat of a their car as blizzards descended on North Yorkshire.

Dylan Fawcett was delivered in the family's Ford Fiesta on the A64 near Malton in the early hours of Tuesday.

His unexpected arrival was witnessed by his two elder sisters, Isobel and Bryony, who with their parents on the way to hospital.

Father Wayne Fawcett said he was "relieved" there were no problems.

No time

Hayley Ensbury, Dylan's mother, started her contractions at about 0330 GMT on Tuesday, just as most of the county was being blanketed in snow.

She said: "We knew the weather was bad and that it was 15 miles to the hospital so we thought we had better get cracking.

"We didn't get there though because he started to come out on the dual carriageway just as we were pulling into Malton."

The hospital was only a further five minutes away so "everything was fine" when they finally arrived, Ms Ensbury added.
