Twenty-seven deaths have been reported at the base since 1990 |
A soldier found dead with gunshot wounds in his dormitory at Catterick Garrison has been named by police. Andrew Browne, a 24-year-old trainee Coldstream Guard, was found in Vimy Barracks on Monday afternoon.
A postmortem examination revealed that he had died from a single gunshot wound, North Yorkshire Police said.
It is the 27th non-combat death at the garrison since 1990 and concerns have been raised about the number of young soldiers who have died there.
One of those who died was Daniel Farr, 18, of Market Weighton, East Yorkshire.
Some families of those who have died have joined the campaign for a public inquiry into the deaths at Deepcut Barracks in Surrey.
