People have the opportunity to ride the behind the locomotive |
Tickets have gone on sale for the Flying Scotsman's first regular service since the historic train was saved by York's National Railway Museum (NRM). The legendary steam locomotive will run between York and Scarborough for six weeks only on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 20 July to 31 August.
Passengers have three journey options: a lunchtime excursion, an evening sundowner special, and a day excursion.
Tickets can be booked at the railway museum or online at www.nrm.org.uk.
Andrew Scott, head of the NRM, said: "The summer steam specials will be the first opportunity for Flying Scotsman supporters, fans and people from all over the UK and overseas to ride behind the museum's newest attraction."
The locomotive is currently being serviced at the museum's workshop after a number of minor mechanical problems were discovered.
Rail vheicle collections manager Jim Rees said: "Now that we have the Flying Scotsman in our workshop, we can take the time to give it a good service, a little bit of the TLC it deserves and prepare it, ready for its glorious summer tours."
