Fire crews in Selby (taken by a member of public)
Lightening struck a Selby sports store
Torrential rain and thunder storms have been causing major problems in parts of Yorkshire.

In Sheffield rain fell all day on Monday, forcing two schools to send pupils home early and flooding a number of properties.

A building was struck by lightning in Selby and police say it was lucky no-one was hurt when the bolt hit.

With heavy rain forecast, an Environment Agency flood watch has been put in place across Yorkshire.

Reports from the emergency services suggest Sheffield and Rotherham in South Yorkshire have been hit the worse.

Wath Comprehensive in Rotherham and Parkwood High in Sheffield were forced to close as the buildings were flooded.

A number of roads have also been closed due to the rain and some businesses in Sheffield Meadowhall have lost their power.

And trains running between Meadowhall and Barnsley have been cancelled due to flooding on the tracks.

In the Darnall area, two people had to stand on the roof of their car under a flooded aquaduct before being rescued by the fire service.

The low-level flood warning includes the River Derwent, Malton and all other streams and rivers running off the North York Moors.
