Two people were killed when their car burst into flames in a head-on crash on the border of North and West Yorkshire. The male driver and female passenger of a Renault Clio died in the accident on Newall Carr Road, Otley, at 2100 BST on Monday, North Yorkshire Police said.
"For reasons yet unknown, the Clio had moved into the path of the Audi just before impact," a spokesman said.
The Audi driver, a man from Skipton, North Yorkshire, was treated for cuts and bruises at Leeds General Infirmary.
The accident caused the road to close for seven hours while investigations were carried out.
