Motorcyclist killed in road smash
A motorcyclist was killed in a head-on smash with a car on a coastal road in North Yorkshire.

Martin Pearson, of Lealholme, died on the A171 Whitby to Scarborough road at about 1740 BST on Friday.

Police say the 27-year-old's blue-and-white Suzuki collided with a green Peugeot 206 at a point known locally as High Normanby Bends.

The three people in the car, all from the Stockton area of Teesside, were treated for minor injuries in hospital.

North Yorkshire Police are warning motorcyclists to take extra care over the Bank holiday weekend because of the busy traffic.
