A decision to close seven post offices in York should be reviewed according to the city council. Post Office bosses said there were too many counters competing for too little business.
But the council is holding a meeting on Tuesday to see what action can be taken to save some of the services.
The branches under threat are Albermarle Road, Bishopthorpe Road, Boroughbridge Road, Clarence Street, Fishergate, Gale Lane and Holgate.
The Post Office announced the controversial plans last week and stressed that no final decision would be made without public consultation.
But protesters have already started to gather objections and a petition has been set up to save the Fishergate branch.
