Post office plan for youth hostel
A Yorkshire Dales community is to have its Post Office which was closed almost two years ago reopened in the village youth hostel.

The Post Office and the Youth Hostels Association (YHA) have announced a partnership to reopen the branch in Kettlewell.

The YHA has secured 40,000 to convert its reception area in time for summer.

Work is due to start in May and will include improvements to access and security.

Several organisations have helped to fund the project, including North Yorkshire County Council, the Countryside Agency, Post Office Ltd and Craven District Council.

YHA Regional manager for Yorkshire and the Humber, Simon Ainley, said they could find no reason not to accommodate the Post Office.

"It is certainly a new departure for us, but it demonstrates that our buildings can be a resource for the local community."
