Ramblers have flocked to the Dales during the hot weather |
A man spotted walking naked in the Yorkshire Dales has handed himself in to police. But officers said that as no one has made a formal complaint they are letting him off with a warning.
Earlier this week, North Yorkshire police confirmed there had been a number of sightings of a man walking on various parts of the Pennine Way wearing only a floppy hat and hiking boots.
On one occasion he was reported to have casually greeted a fellow walker on a canal towpath as if nothing was wrong.
A police spokesman said: "The naked rambler who had been seen walking in the Yorkshire Dales has contacted the police in North Yorkshire.
"The police have confirmed that because of the absence of any form of complaint no further action has been taken although he has been warned regarding his behaviour."
He added that the force now considered the matter closed.
