Norwich City sue News of the World over 'debt' story

Norwich City Football Club has started legal proceedings against a national newspaper which said the team was going into administration.

The News of the World published an article on Sunday 24 January headlined "Canaries on brink", and said the club had called in potential administrators.

Norwich City chairman Alan Bowkett previously called the story "tosh".

The club announced it had issued legal proceedings for libel in the High Court on Monday.

Norwich City are currently top of the League One table and beat Hartlepool 2-1 on Saturday.
