Doomed club's games are postponed

King's Lynn has had at least one football club since before 1879

A Norfolk football club's games have been postponed after news that it had been wound up in the High Court.

King's Lynn FC's first team had intended to play a match against Guiseley on Saturday, but after taking advice it has been postponed.

On Wednesday the club was wound up by a High Court judge with more than £65,000 of unpaid taxes.

Now all matches, including the reserves, the A team and the youth team fixtures, have been postponed.

The club said it had taken the decision after seeking advice from the Football Association.

'Woefully insolvent'

King's Lynn FC has less than a week to pay its outstanding debts.

On Wednesday its chairman Ken Bobbins told the High Court it had already paid £40,000 of its unpaid tax bill.

But the court granted a request by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs to make a compulsory order winding up the club, saying it was "woefully insolvent".

It means the club's affairs will be handed over to an official receiver.

This will ensure that debts are paid off by selling any assets available and then bringing business to a close.
