An investigation has been launched after reports that two rare birds of prey were shot on a Royal estates. An allegation was made on Wednesday evening that the hen harriers were shot on the Sandringham estate, Norfolk police said.
The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds said it was aware of the allegation and would assist with the inquiry if needed.
No-one from the Norfolk estate was available for comment.
Latest figures on the RSPB website states there are 749 breeding pairs of hen harriers in the UK.
