A charity supporting people with eating disorders has received a 130,000 grant to fund a scheme to treat people in the early stages of their illness. The Eating Disorders Association (EDA) based in Norwich is to receive the grant from the Department of Health.
They aim to fund a three-year project called "Pathways to Recovery" that will involve staff and volunteers.
Emma Healey from EDA said: "The grant will give people help and support before their illness takes hold."
Ms Healey is head of the association's individual support group and described the programme as "unique".
"We will be building a network of 'buddies' who will share their experiences and give sufferers the help and confidence they need to begin and then maintain their recovery," she said.
Ms Healey added: "Too many people with eating disorders feel totally alone, we want to give them the helping hand that really makes a difference."
