Norwich City FC wants permission to build the apartments |
A football club's plans for the redevelopment of land near the River Wensum in Norfolk have been criticised in a report to a rivers authority. Norwich City Football Club wants to build two riverside apartment blocks near the Club's Carrow Road stadium.
But the plans are opposed in a report to the the Broads Authority (BA) - which looks after the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads.
The BA can only advise the Norwich planning authority on the application.
The report by Broads Authority officers to its planning committee meeting on Friday, says 50m-high, 13 to 14-storey blocks are too tall and too close to the river.
The area around Carrow Road is a sea of cranes and construction at the moment - the club sold off the land behind the Peterborough Stand for 6m and about 300 are being built.
The latest plans from Norwich City are for land further down the River Wensum going up to the former Laurence and Scott site.
It wants to build a sports area and a seven-a-side football pitch.
