A man was killed and a woman seriously injured when the car in which they were travelling swerved to avoid a deer and hit a tree. The crash happened on Monday night on the A1122 at Barton Bendish, Norfolk.
The Citroen car was being driven by a 30-year-old Norwich man when the deer ran out into its path.
A rear seat passenger, a man aged 42 from Norwich, was killed and a woman passenger suffered a fractured neck. Two other passengers sustained bruises.
All were taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn for treatment.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident, which happened shortly after 2230 BST.
