Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is mothballing a ward |
Hospitals in Norfolk and Suffolk are facing bed closures after reviews of current budget overspends. One ward at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is to be mothballed and while out of action contractors will redecorate.
The James Paget at Gorleston and QEII at King's Lynn are carrying out budget reviews but hope to avoid closures.
Andrew Stronach, from the Norfolk and Norwich hospital, said staff from the affected ward will fill vacancies.
Elayne Guest, from the James Paget, said there is not enough money to go round and savings have got to be made in other areas of the hospital to keep all beds open.
The West Suffolk in Bury St Edmunds is to start a review next week that could see bed closures because of a predicted shortfall in funds next year.
