Asbo farmer to be tried by jury
Brian Hagan
Mr Hagan wants to be tried at the crown court
A farmer accused of breaching an anti-social behaviour order (Asbo) which was imposed because pigs regularly escape from his land faces a trial by jury.

Brian Hagan, 62, of Briston, Norfolk, denied breaching the order at King's Lynn Magistrates Court on Thursday and opted for a crown court trial.

The court adjourned the hearing to 26 January when the case will be reviewed.

The Asbo was imposed on Monday after complaints that Mr Hagan's pigs were damaging neighbours' land.

It is alleged the order was breached on the same day when pigs again escaped.

It is thought to be the first time an Asbo - introduced to curb unruly behaviour - has been used in such circumstances.
