Canaries fans denied night flights for away games |
Plans to allow night time flights from Norwich International for Canaries football fans have been turned down by city council planners. The club had wanted the airport to be allowed up to 18 late flights for fans coming back from away games.
The football club had asked for flights to be allowed until the end of May.
Local opposition groups challenged the idea by saying they were worried about noise. Parish councils have also lodged complaints about the proposal.
Naomi Balcham, from local opposition group Broad, said: "Several parish councils around the airport objected and that showed the council the depth of feeling by residents."
Green Party councillor Adrian Ramsay said: "This is democracy at work. People objected to the noise pollution and we opposed the idea on environmental grounds."
