Dredger uncovers WWI 'explosive'
Bomb disposal experts were called to Norfolk on Wednesday after a dredger picked up what was thought to be an unexploded shell.

Experts from Portsmouth inspected the shell which was found off the coast at Sea Palling.

The device was picked up by a dredger, which is used to pump sand on to the beach and had 24 workers on board.

However, the bomb disposal squad said the "shell" was actually a solid shot, possibly from World War I.

Norfolk coastguard Mario Ciano told BBC Radio Norfolk there was never any risk to the workers.

The shot was taken away by the bomb disposal squad.
