Cinema City is to undergo an extensive refurbishment |
Plans to demolish part of a Grade One listed building to expand a major arthouse cinema in Norwich have been approved. On Thursday, Norwich City Council approved the plans to expand Cinema City - which is based in Suckling Hall.
Suckling Hall is a medieval building which was extended in the 1920s by Norfolk architect Edward Boardman.
It was converted into a cinema and restaurant in 1977.
The medieval building will be rebuilt to accommodate a three-screen multiplex, but the facade will remain.

The proposals will now be put forward for government approval because of its listed status.
