Alan Partridge specials are in the wings, says Coogan |
Bumbling Radio Norwich DJ Alan Partridge and the city's most famous resident is to make a comeback. TV bosses had said the much-loved spoof character would not be back after last year's series, I'm Alan Partridge.
But his creator, BBC television comedy star Steve Coogan, has said he planned further one-off specials as the well-known DJ.
"Not this year, but I haven't buried him completely," said Coogan. "I enjoy doing him.
"There won't be a series - I'm too involved doing behind the scenes things - but I'd definitely do specials."
City trail
Partridge began life on Radio 4's On The Hour before moving to TV on BBC2's The Day Today.
That led to his own comic chat show, Knowing Me Knowing You, before viewers saw him fall on hard times as he found himself working on local radio and living in a motel.
Last year a heritage trail in the city to allow visitors to follow in Partridge's footsteps was ruled out.
Speculation had grown that council leaders in Norfolk were planning to create the trail in honour of the star.
The idea was later dismissed as "firmly tongue in cheek".
