Missing Daniel caught on CCTV

Security pictures of missing seven-year-old Daniel Entwistle, taken just before he was last seen, have been released by police.

Daniel is seen in a shop near his home in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, buying milk for his parents on Saturday.

He took the milk home, then set off to see a friend and disappeared.

The CCTV video at Blencowe's shop shows Daniel dressed in a blue T-shirt, blue tracksuit bottoms and grey trainers.

Police said the images seem to have been recorded at 1702 BST, but they are not sure the clock on the camera was accurate.

More than 60 police officers aided by coastguards, diving teams, military staff and helicopter crews are searching the area.

If there is no news, we will attempt to reassure the children

Daniel's father, David Entwistle said he had searched all night with his brother-in-law in the hope of finding his son.

"We have been looking all night and I have had no sleep for 36 hours now," he said on Monday morning.

"We've just been looking round anywhere and everywhere."

Residents on the Barrack estate where the family live have been asked to search outbuildings and business premises locked up over the bank holiday weekend, and to check any CCTV pictures.

Daniel's headteacher, Keith Egleton, of Greenacre First, Middle and Nursery School, said Daniel's disappearance would be the main topic of Tuesday morning's assembly.

"If there is no news, we will attempt to reassure the children and attempt to provide as normal an environment as we possibly can."

Mr Egleton said the school has been kept open as a gathering point for the community as the search continues, and counsellors would be on hand for pupils.

We are all desperate for his safe return and we hoping that he has simply run away and that he will return safe and well
Det Supt Julian Gregory

Thousands of posters have been put up around the town and bank holiday visitors are being urged to look out for the boy.

Detective Superintendent Julian Gregory, who is leading the search, told the BBC on Monday: "We are keeping an open mind - we do not know what has happened to him.

"We are all desperate for his safe return and we hoping that he has simply run away and that he will return safe and well."

Strong northern accent

Fears for Daniel grew after his bike was found on a riverside quay, 10 minutes from his home.

Daniel's mother said he had gone missing before, but that he was found two hours later - in the area where his bike was found.

The family originally come from Burnley in Lancashire, but moved to Norfolk three years ago to be nearer Mrs Entwistle's family.

Daniel is described as 3 ft 2 in tall with a strong northern accent.
