Steven Gerrard was playing abroad when the robbery took place |
A 22-year-old man has appeared in court accused of taking part in a robbery at Liverpool and England footballer Steven Gerrard's mansion. Mr Gerrard's wife Alex Curran, 27, was confronted by four masked raiders at home in Formby, Merseyside, in 2007. Martin Wilson, of Hollowcroft, Stockbridge Village, is charged with burglary and robbery. He did not enter a plea at Liverpool Crown Court. Mr Wilson, 22, was remanded in custody until 16 April. His three-day trial is due to begin in June. The robbers struck while the midfielder, 29, was playing in Liverpool's Champions League tie away to Marseille.
