Scott had missed a dose of anti-psychotic drugs before the killings |
A mentally ill man has admitted killing his parents at their Merseyside home. Alan and Stella Scott, who were in their 60s, were discovered at a house on Redington Road in Allerton in April 2008. They had been repeatedly stabbed. Alan Scott, 36, denied murder but admitted manslaughter on grounds of diminished responsibility. Liverpool Crown Court heard a missed dose of anti-psychotic drugs could have contributed to Scott's mental state at the time of the killings. The court heard evidence that he missed a dose of drugs in the preceding weeks and on the day of the incident Scott would not have been rational. The prosecution and the judge accepted his plea of manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility. He will be kept at Ashworth High Security Hospital until he is sentenced on 12 June. Det Ch Insp Neil Bickley of Merseyside Police, said: "The deaths of Stella and Alan Scott Senior has been a tragedy for the family, especially their two daughters who lost two loving parents. Mr Bickley added he hoped Scott's plea "helped the family come to terms with their loss."
