Power cuts caused by cable faults

Two cable faults were responsible for power cuts to parts of Liverpool, including the city centre.

Supplies by Scottish Power were lost late on Saturday morning, and many customers were not reconnected until the evening.

The problem caused a concert by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic at the orchestra's Hope Street hall to be postponed.

The venue apologised for the disruption to the Paul Carrick performance.
