Double murder suspect sectioned

Police at the scene in Redington Road
Police have cordoned off the scene

A man arrested over the murder of a married couple found dead at their home in Liverpool has been detained under the Mental Health Act.

Alan and Stella Scott, who were in their 60s, were found at a house in Redington Road, Allerton, on Tuesday.

Police arrested a 35-year-old man from Woolton, believed to be their son, on suspicion of murder later that day.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place later to determine how the couple died.

Redington Road was closed to the public as forensic officers were called to the scene.

Police were searching a footpath that runs behind the back of the estate on Tuesday evening.
