No cold calling zone in Knowsley
Knowsley Council has set up a "No Cold Calling Zone" in Prescot.

Nearly 200 homes are covered by the zone in an area which has a high number of older people who could be vulnerable to doorstep harassment.

Residents have been given special information packs about the scheme, which is backed by the area's crime reduction partnership and the police.

It is hoped there will be a reduction in rogue traders, high pressure sales people and distraction burglaries.

Councillor Ken Keith said: "No Cold Calling Zones will give local residents the confidence to say no to uninvited salespeople and warn rogue traders and cold-callers that they are not welcome.

"The zone is not designed to prevent community organisations, the emergency services or local politicians from contacting local people."
